Finglas Memories – Through our eyes – The Local News

Finglas Man Tom Bruen started Finglas Memories Facebook page in 2017. A Finglas man now living with his family in Australia, set up the page to encourage Finglas people to record their memories, share photos and relive their childhood. Indeed a successful by-product of the page has been its ability to reconnect old friends, lovers and even relations. Earlier this year Tom set about putting as many of these memories in a book which has been released just a short while ago.

The book has become like gold dust, with probably Massey Bros Funeral Home being the only place I could get a copy. It is a wonderful collection of memories with an introduction by Brendan O’Carroll, entries by famous footballer Ronnie Whelan, author George Fitzgerald, and Michael Doyle. But it is not about important people in our community. It is by and about locals from Finglas, some have left the area, many still live here, but all have great memories of growing up in Finglas throughout the years.
